W. E. Ed Andrews' Obituary
W.E. ''Ed'' Andrews, 87, born September 16, 1914, passed away the morning of February 22, 2002.  Mr. Andrews was born in Longview, TX and lived here his entire life.  He was an
entrepreneur in the truest sense of the word.  He owned a Texaco service station and bought the first steam cleaner in Longview.  He worked for the Missouri/Pacific Railroad for almost ten years and was promoted to yard master before leaving.  He always worked at night so he could build houses during the day.  He was very proud of the fact that he built each of his three children their first home.  He opened the ''Corner Store'' on the corner of Cotton and Mobberly.
The store was the first to stay open 7 days a week and stay open until 11 at night.  He built the first modern apartment house in Longview.  He owned a liquor store and had the Lone Star Beer distributorship in Gregg County.  He was also a heck of a ''Moon'' player.  There were many lively games at the ''Corner Store''.
His wife of 63 years, Mary Frances passed away 2 years ago.  Ed and Mary Frances had three children, Sara Cheavens of Lufkin,  Sally Knight of Longview and George Andrews of Arlington, TX.  there are 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 12 Noon Monday at the Grace Hill Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mills officiating.   Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
