W. D. "Bill" McMahon's Obituary
W.D. "Bill" McMahon went to join his beloved Janie in heaven on July 21, two months short of his 97th birthday. He was a humble man known for his love for his family, humor, kindness, generosity and golf, both for his passion and his ability to play. He served his country in WWII and shortly after the war he and Mom moved to Longview to start Gregg Construction Company. He is the last of four brothers, all special in their own ways. Dad was a rare person whose friends and fishing, hunting and golfing buddies covered an age gap of 40 years. His golf prowess produced numerous golf trophies. He was best known for his uncanny short game and a swing that earned him the nickname "Sweet Willie.". He is survived by his two sons, Dan, who lives with his wife Mary in Austin, and Mike, who lives with his wife Linda in Dallas; his grandsons, Scott, and wife Abby, and Will; his granddaughters, Cristi, and husband Duncan, and Emily, and her husband Scott. Dad was also blessed with seven grandchildren. He will be missed but his legacy goes on.
Graveside services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Memory Park Cemetery.
