Wayne Murray Coon's Obituary
Wayne M. Coon, 78, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015, in the arms of his three children. Wayne was born October 30, 1937, in Dallas, Texas to Wilson M. and Willie Mae Thetford Coon.
Wayne is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Trenton Coon and Becky Childress of Hallsville, TX; his daughter and son-in-law Bridget and Alan Stiles of Hallsville, TX; his daughter and son-in-law Casie Coon and Mark Gibson of Justin, TX; and his brother John Coon of Argyle TX. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Brenton, Chelsey, Allie, Lainey, Jacob, and Jenna; and two great grandchildren, Darcie and Cadence.
Wayne graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1956 then went on to Abilene Christian University to study business and design. He was employed by Eli Lilly in pharmaceutical sales. He went on to be the Assistant Administrator and purchasing agent for Freeport Community Hospital. Wayne, later in life, took a leap of faith and opened Wayne’s Designs featuring world recognized stall drape curtains. Wayne’s Designs successfully carried him through the next twenty years. Passing his creativity down to his daughter, in his retirement years, Wayne assisted in her flower and design shop.
Wayne was a devout Christian and loving father, never missing a basketball game, cheerleading competition, or dirt-bike race. Wayne was known for his witty personality and comical quotes. Some of his famous being: ”You think your smart, but you don’t” and “Wherever you go, there you are”.
He will forever be held in the hearts of who knew him, for it is hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17, at Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel, Longview, TX. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
