Wayne Willard Archer's Obituary
Wayne Willard Archer was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin June 20, 1939 to Rose Lorraine and Willard Luther Archer. He was the oldest of their 5 children. When in the eighth grade, Wayne was responsible to split wood for his father’s church and mother’s cook stove. He spent 3 summers during high school working on a farm to provide for his own financial needs. His appreciation of John Deere tractors started there. Wayne enjoyed working on puzzles and several were framed of the John Deere tractors. Wayne’s love for instrumental music began in High School band when he played trumpet. All of his siblings played an instrument as well and the brothers played for their sister’s wedding.
Wayne graduated from high school in Anoka, Minnesota and spent the next year at Seattle Pacific University. He then joined the US Army where he was trained as a Morse Code operator listening to Chinese communication from Okinawa.
Wayne graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a BA in Sociology 1964. While at ONU he met Pat Stinson and they were married August 21, 1965. Wayne received his Masters of Ed Administration from Seattle Pacific University 1970. He began his career as a Fund Raiser/Estate Planner for several nonprofit organization such as: LeTourneau University of Longview, TX, Cascade Division of Salvation Army and University of Texas Health Science Center. He retired at the age of 75.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Lorraine and Willard Archer and brother, Lynn Archer.
Wayne and Pat made 9 cross-country job-related moves before settling in their beloved Longview, Texas.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Pat, of 58 years and 4 married children and 16 grandchildren. They are : Debbie and Jeff Mansfield and their children, Lauren and Brandon Mumford, Grae, Cooper and Olivia Mansfield of Cicero, IN, Steve and Jenny Archer, and their children, Caitlin and Tristan Kelley of Longview, TX, Caleb and Lizzie Archer of Tyler, TX, Alyson and Andres Beserra of Fort, Worth, TX, Eric, David and Laila Archer. Amy and Dave Harvey and their children, Archer James of Lubbock, TX, and Deanna a student at TX A&M. Kendall and Heidi Archer, and their children, Madeline and Jake Peterman of Gilmer, TX, Abigail and Nathan Hood of Conroe, TX, Luke Archer of Longview, TX, and Lucy Archer of Longview, TX.
Wayne’s remaining siblings and their spouses: Carol and Harold Krause, Larry and Marcy Archer, Hugh and Mary Jane Archer, and Mrs. Lynn Archer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Wayne Archer to Mobberly Baptist Church, Hope Road Counseling or Samaritan’s Purse.
His funeral service will be at Mobberly Baptist Church, Saturday, June 29, 2024, starting at 11am. A time of viewing will be from 5-7pm Friday, June 28, 2024, at Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
