Waylon Hugh Joiner
Waylon Hugh Joiner died November 3, 2007 in a Longview hospital. He was the son of William H. Joiner and Ninna Mae Harris Joiner. He was born in Deport, Texas on November 24, 1917 and lived in De Kalb, Texas where he graduated from High School and then he attended the University of Houston.
He served in World War II in the U. S. Navy from 1942-1946. Sea duty was aboard the U. S. S. Odom in the Pacific Area. After the war, he moved to Longview in 1946 where he retired from Texas Eastman in 1980.
He was a member of the Winterfield United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge #404 of Longview.
Mr. Joiner was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerald Joiner; and his sister, Carrie Elizabeth McCreary; and his daughter Janet Joiner Cantrell.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mable W. Joiner; daughter, Donna McGrath; and grandchildren, Samuel Patwin, Anthony Marberry, and Stevie and Kasey McGrath.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Fairview Cemetery in Nacogdoches, TX with his nephew, the Reverend Richard White officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
The family will receive friends for 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at Winterfield United Methodist Church, 2616 Tryon Rd., Longview, TX.
