Warren Hansell Hunt III MD's Obituary
Dr. Warren H. Hunt III, a dedicated doctor who practiced internal medicine in Longview for 58 years, died Wednesday at the age of 87.
Dr. Hunt was born in Rayville, LA, in 1929. He started college at The University of the South at the age of 16 and later attended Tulane University, graduating from Tulane Medical School in 1953. While serving as a doctor in the U.S. Army, he met Filomena Natale. They married and in 1959 moved to Longview. Filomena died in 1988, after which Dr. Hunt married Mrs. Norma Farrington.
Dr. Hunt is former Chief-of-Staff for both Good Shepherd Medical Center and Longview Regional Hospital. He was a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and a fellow of the prestigious American College of Physicians. He was a revered internist, in part because of his delight in solving puzzles – we thought of him as a medical Sherlock Holmes.
He was active in Longview as a member of the Museum of Art, the Symphony Society, the Downtown Rotary Club, and the Retired Military Officers Association. A longtime member of St. Anthony and St. Mary Catholic churches, Dr. Hunt was a Knight of Columbus.
He was survived by his wife of 28 years, Norma Hunt. Those left to cherish his memory are his children Warren, Carol, Jody, and Anne Hunt; and his stepchildren Lucy Russell, Evan Farrington, and Helen (Betsy) Pistone. He has many grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces, medical colleagues, and friends who remember him fondly. All of those who knew Warren will miss his amiable attitude and his love of music, science, and history.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be today, Saturday, May 13, 2017 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Longview starting at 10:30am with the Recitation of the Rosary prior to the mass starting at 10am. Interment will follow the mass at Grace Hill Cemetery in Longview. Arrangements are under the care of Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
