Warren Joseph "Joe" Deslatte's Obituary
Warren Joseph “Joe” Deslatte, 76, passed away on January 31, 2018 in Longview. He was born September 10, 1941 in Flora, Illinois and was the youngest of three children.
Joe loved sports. He started playing basketball and tennis in middle school. He went on to play on the varsity tennis team in high school, winning many tournaments. He also won state in Doubles. He attended college on a tennis scholarship. After college he coached tennis, basketball, football and took several teams to state meet. He went on to teach several different grades in P.E. at Pine Tree and Chapel Hill schools.
Joe loved to fish and play golf. He won a number of fishing tournaments and has 8 hole in one golf trophies.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Letha Lee Icet Deslatte, brother Eugene and sister Frances. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Betty Atherton Deslatte, son Chris Deslatte and wife Gina, children Aaron, Olivia and Sophie, son Brad Deslatte and wife Lisa, children Michael and Nicholas and daughter Kerri.
Joe will be remembered for being a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather as well as being a member of the Pine Tree Church of Christ for the past 47 years.
Visitation will be held in the Rosewood Park Mausoleum on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 1 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m.
