Mrs. Greenway was born June 5, 1930 in Paron, Arkansas to Lizzie and William Tipps. She graduated valedictorian of her class from Paron High School. She married Dan Greenway and they spent 63 loving years together of which she would often reflect “I didn’t just love him. I liked him!”
Wanda shared of her life generously. She was an active member of First Baptist Church Longview where she taught 5th grade Sunday School for 25 years, volunteered with the clothes drive, and assisted with Meals on Wheels. She also worked in sales at Sears for 16 years.
She loved to travel with Dan throughout the southwest collecting artifacts. She was an avid hunter, who with her husband, drove a jeep back and forth to their deer lease in the hill country. She also enjoyed the hunt for a great bargain. She was the kind of mother, grandmother and friend who made her home the hub of all activity. There was always food, a place to sleep and games to play. Up until the age of 85, she was still sitting on the floor cross legged, babysitting great-grandchildren and going to baseball games.
Mrs. Greenway is survived by her children, son Gary Greenway of Longview, daughter Mona White and husband Walter of Gladewater, and daughter Carol Robinson and husband Bob of Grapevine; granddaughter Leigh Vashey and husband Jon of Kilgore and their children, Wyatt, Zane, Silas, and Lincoln; grandson Caleb White and wife Tyne of Tyler and their children, Avery, McClaine, Audrey, and Reece Eloise; granddaughter Margaret Perry and husband Joshua of Marshall and son Asher; granddaughter April Robinson of Seattle, grandson Drew Robinson and wife Kelsey of Garland and granddaughter Corrie Farver and husband Corey of Euless.
Special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice of Longview and sitters Irma and Janet for their loving care.
