Funeral services for Walter Lee Dillard, 87, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Longview with the Reverend Jerry Turner officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Entombment will be under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Mr. Dillard was born on October 7, 1923 in Ridgely, TN to Charles and Dona Dillard. He passed away on November 22, 2010 at his residence. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1983. He taught Sunday school, served on the finance committee, and was a Liturgist. He also was a volunteer at the Newgate Mission, was a volunteer for the East Texas Literacy Council, and volunteered with the Citizens on Patrol.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Dillard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl Miller and sister, Ruth Woodall. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Dillard of Longview; daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Michael Chrismer of Longview, Amy and Marshall Rittermeyer of Longview; grandchildren, Chaska Norwood of Dallas, Andy Norwood of Dallas, Cody Rittermeyer of Longview, Devin Besancenez of St. Louis, MO, and Tayler Chrismer of St. Louis, MO.
