Vorine Akin's Obituary
Graveside services for Vorine Akin, age 95 of Henderson will be held Wednesday April 2, 2008 at 2:30pm at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Kuykendall officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Mrs. Akin passed away Sunday March 30, 2008 at a Henderson Nursing Center.
She was born March 4, 1913 in Proffitt, Texas. She had lived most of her life in Rusk County. She attended New London Schools and was a survivor of the New London School Explosion. She was a homemaker and a private sitter. She was also a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents J.M. & Emma Speer, husbands Dreeben C. Saxon, and James Cecil Akin, children Lillia Ann Saxon, Gay Nell Batis, Martha Sue Dorsey, and Earl Dean Saxon.
She survived by sons, J.M. Saxon of Belton, Robert Paul Saxon of Fort Lupton, Co., daughter Mary Neil Jordan of Georgia, Step children, James Harland Akin of Jacksonville, Pat Jones of Celina, Jean Fryman of Henderson, and Rena Jordan of Laneville, 22 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and special caretaker Rhonda Smith.
The family will meet friends at the funeral home from 1pm – 2:00pm Wednesday.
