Virginia Studt's Obituary
Virginia Ruth Studt passed quietly surrounded by family on July 14, 2015. Virginia was born November 8, 1923 in Escanaba, Michigan to James and Ruth Amelia (Pearson) Scheuber. A memorial celebration of her life is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 18 at the First Presbyterian Church of Longview with Rev. Kendal Land officiating with arrangements through Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
As a child, Virginia lived in Wyoming, Kansas, Oklahoma then back to Kansas where she graduated from Independence, Kansas High School in 1942. After graduation, she attended photography school then began working for Acme News pictures in Chicago. She enlisted in the Women’s Army Corp and was stationed at Fort Sheridan. While in the military, she was a Signal Corp photographer.
After the war, Virginia attended the University of Kansas and received a degree in Bachelor of Arts Education. While at KU, she met and later married Winton Leonard Studt. They began their married life in Kingsport, Tennessee until the Eastman transferred him to Longview, Texas. They were married 65 years.
Virginia was actively involved with numerous activities. She volunteered her time to serve her church in many capacities. She was an officer in the Brookwood Garden and Bramlette P.T.A.; she was also a Camp Fire Girl leader. She was known for her sewing, quilting and cooking.
Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her husband Winton Leonard Studt, daughter and son-in-law Joyce and Bob Moomau of Longview, son Bradley Studt of Houston, son and daughter-in-law Jim and Mary Studt of San Angelo, and grandchildren James Barnhill, Jenna Moomau Royal, Anna Studt, Andrew Studt, and Camille Studt.
The family thanks the loving care she received at Buckner Westminster and from Heart’s Way Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 301 N. Center St., Longview 75601 or charity of choice.
