Virginia Lee Smith's Obituary
Graveside services for Virginia “Vene” Smith will be held at 1pm on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mrs. Smith passed in the evening of February 25, 2019 in Longview.
Virginia was born on October 24, 1932 in Skidmore TX to parents Lee and Helen Wheelis. She married the love of her life, Jack Loyd Smith, and they soon moved to Longview and started their family. She was always a joyous and kind person to be around and never met a stranger. Virginia enjoyed being outside in nature and spending time always putting her family first.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jack Loyd Smith, parents Lee and Helen Wheelis, son Larry Douglas Smith, and brother Douglas Wheelis. Those left to cherish their memories of Virginia include her daughters, Kelly Price with her husband Arthur, and Linda Shelton with her husband Phil; grandchildren Bartlette Fleming and her husband Dave, Carey Russell, Michael Smith and Amanda Smith; 3 great-grandchildren and brother John Wheelis and his wife Jean.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Pine Tree Lodge for their loving care to Mrs. Smith. In lieu of flower, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer Association in Virginia Smith’s name.
