Virginia Rodgers' Obituary
Virginia May Rodgers passed away on Friday, February 2 at the age of 104. Born in Oak Park, Illinois to William and May (Cress) Bedard, she grew up in Villa Park with her three siblings. She married William Rodgers in October 1941 and they made their home in northern Illinois for many years. Virginia was employed as a purchasing agent for the United States Navy at Great Lakes Naval Air Station for over thirty years. Following her retirement, she returned to work as an office manager for two attorneys in Grayslake, Illinois. After a visit to Texas in 1997, Virginia and Will decided to spend their remaining years in Longview and made the move that fall. They became active in Saints Alive Singers, BXYZ and Lifegroups at First Baptist Church. The family wishes to thank Summer Meadows and Allinea Hospice for their exceptional loving care extended to Virginia during her stay with them.
Virginia Rodgers was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and a sister. She is survived by a daughter Karen (Don) Hane of Oak Park, Illinois, son Bob (Betty) Rodgers of Longview, Texas, granddaughter Kristin Weglarz; grandson, Scott (Crystal) Rodgers; granddaughter, Michele (Scott) Simpson; and granddaughter, Kimberly (Mark) Duquette along with six great-grandchildren.
A Cryptside service will be held Thursday, February 8 at 2:00 pm at Rosewood Park Mausoleum.
