Virginia Redfearn's Obituary
Services for Virginia Redfearn, 80, of Longview will be held at 1:00 PM, February 7, 2005, at the First Presbyterian Church in Longview with the Rev. Jonathan Jehorek officiating. Interment will be at 4:00 PM in Omaha Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mrs. Redfearn was surrounded by her family at her residence when she left this life to join the Lord on February 5, 2005.
Mrs. Redfearn was born January 21, 1925, in Dallas, Texas to Wilson Van Buren Taylor and Passie Louisa Witt Taylor. Mrs. Redfearn graduated from Omaha High School in 1942 and attended East Texas State Teacher?s College at Commerce. She married her high school sweetheart, Jack Milton Moore of Omaha on October 20, 1944, and was widowed in 1946.
Later after a brief courtship, on September 7, 1947, she married Arvin Redfearn of Mt. Pleasant, with whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage. During this time she was a homemaker and also an employee of Texas Eastman for 23 years where she was supervisor of transportation services. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Longview for 54 years, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Heritage Bible Study, High Hopes Garden Club, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and a life master of duplicate bridge. She was a loving mother and true friend and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Redfearn is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Arvin Redfearn. Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Louise Baird of Chapel Hill, NC; one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Karen Redfearn of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and James Oliver of Marble Falls, TX; three grandchildren, Julie L. Parker, Laurie V. Parker, and David T. Redfearn and his wife, Sheri; one great-granddaughter, Carolynn Louisa Parker-Hileman; and many relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, the Rev. John Noble Redfearn, Joe Garrett Redfearn, Benny Joe Redfearn, Scott Redfearn, Patrick E. Redfearn and Garrett Redfearn.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Redfearn, her brother-in-law, Connor Redfearn, Dr. Lloyd Legg, Jim Fred Russell, J.D. Tillery, Dr. Henry C. McGrede, Phil Smith, Bill Taylor, Robert Baird, Glen Baird, and Steve Chionsini.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 301 N. Center Street, Longview, TX 75601, HeartsWay Hospice, 1306 Pine Tree Road, Longview, TX 75604, the American Cancer Society, or to a charity of choice.
