Virginia Beryl McBeth Northcutt's Obituary
Virginia Beryl McBeth Northcutt, 87, of Longview, Texas, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015, at Summer Meadows Nursing Home. She was born October 1, 1928, in DeKalb, Texas, to Opal Rainey McBeth and Emil McBeth. She graduated Salutatorian from Naples High School in 1945, and graduated from Mary Hardin Baylor with a degree in elementary education in 1949. After graduation, Virginia moved to Longview, Texas, to begin her teaching career with the Longview Independent School District. She immediately met the love of her life, Roscoe Franklin Northcutt, Jr., who she married on June 10, 1950.
Virginia was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved being surrounded by her family and always put their needs above her own. She also loved teaching and is remembered as being a kind, loving teacher. When she retired from teaching at Mozelle Johnston Elementary School in 1988, she devoted the remainder of her life to caring for her mother and helping chauffer her two grandsons, Michael Franklin Northcutt, Jr., and Dalton Chase Northcutt, to and from school. Although her time with them was limited, Virginia loved her two great grandchildren, John Robert Northcutt and Bailey Elizabeth Northcutt. Her greatest joy was celebrating holidays with her family at her side. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Roscoe; her sons Michael Franklin Northcutt, Sr. and wife Carolyn, and John Mac Northcutt and wife Donya; her two grandsons Michael Franklin Northcutt, Jr. and wife Amy, and Dalton Chase Northcutt; her two great grandchildren John and Bailey Northcutt; and her granddaughter Journi Weisinger and son Jaxton. She is also survived by special cousins Beverly Rainey and Becky Rainey Butler and numerous other family members and friends.
Virginia’s family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Summer Meadows Nursing Home and Heartsway Hospice of Longview for the love and care they provided Virginia the past two years.
