Virginia Hicks Ligon's Obituary
Virginia Hicks Ligon was born in Scott, Arkansas on July 14, 1921 to Charles Stanley Hicks and Bessie Massey Hicks. She died in Longview, TX on September 30, 2012. Virginia was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband John M. Ligon and her second husband Henry G. Lenhardt. She also is preceded in death by her sister Madeleine Tull; her brothers Edward and Allen Hicks.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Joan and Phil Porter of Lake Cherokee, Henderson, TX; her sister Lucille Bumpers of North Little Rock, Arkansas; step-son Doug Cuthbertson; grandson and wife Greg and Pam Porter and their children Jessie, Josh and Amanda of Cedar Hill, TX; a granddaughter and her husband Christy and Terry Smith and their children Ellison and Porter of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and niece Phyllis Chandler of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Virginia retired from the US General Services Administration as Area Manager Building Services in Arkansas in 1981. She was the first woman to hold the office. She had a distinguished record of 36 years of government work. After retirement she worked as a realtor for a few years.
A graveside service will be held at Griffin-Leggett's Rest Hill Cemetery on Landers Road in North Little Rock on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 1 p.m. with Reverend John Woodard of Centre Presbyterian Church in Longview, Texas, officiating.
