Virgil R. Baker
Funeral services for Virgil R. Baker, 85, of Longview will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Grace Hill Cemetery. He passed away Monday, April 30, in a Longview hospital.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
Mr. Baker was born June 6, 1926 in Haynesville, LA to Everett and Purnie Baker and had been a resident of Longview for most of his life. He was a former supervisor for East Texas Steel Casting for 19 years and Harris Industries for 17 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. National Guard during WWII. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Uel Baker.
Those left to cherish her memory are his wife Joyce Baker of Longview; 2 step-sons, L. L. Childress and Franklin Childress; and numerous nieces and nephews.
