Virgil N. Pierce's Obituary
Virgil N. Pierce of Longview died peacefully at home on August 19, 2005, surrounded by his loving family.
Virgil was born on January 31, 1943 in Houston at St. Joseph?s Hospital to Albert and Mable Pierce. Virgil proudly served his country as a Marine from 1962 to 1966, aboard the USS Yorktown, and later as a Tunnel Rat in Vietnam.
He worked with the Longview VFW organizations for many years. He was retired from Armco Steel in Houston. He attended Greggton United Methodist Church.
Virgil loved people and blessed them with his joyful outlook on life.
Virgil is survived by his loving wife Hazel Lawson Pierce of Longview; his daughter, Kelly Sewell and son-in-law, Kevin Sewell of Houston; his daughter, Kristy Mulkey, also of Houston. Two Step-sons, Brian and Bradley Parker of Longview; grandchildren, Kody Thompson, Chris and Kyle Sewell, Kourtney, Shelbie, and Franki Lerma.
Six brothers and sisters; four brothers-in-law, and three sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews, and a great many other family members and friends.
Visitation for friends and family will be held Monday, August 22, 2005 from 6-8 PM at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., Longview. Services for Virgil will be held
at 10 AM Tuesday, August 23, 2005 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with assistant pastor, Becky Hanson of Greggton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Greggton United Methodist Church.
