Virgil Franklin Baughman's Obituary
Virgil Franklin Baughman was born on November 15, 1919, in the Millville Community of Rusk County and died on August 5, 2020 in Longview, Texas where he was a resident for over 55 years. He was the oldest son of Bessie B. Brooks and Roger Baughman and had 3 sisters and one brother.
At the age of 24, he was drafted into the US Army in 1943 where he served with the 88th Blue Devils 337th Artillery Division. He was honorably discharged in May of 1945.
Mr. Baughman married Erma Gene Lockey in January of 1946. They had two children, Royce and Ginger. He began his masonry business in Henderson which grew into V&B Concrete. He was part of the greatest generation and led a long and healthy life for 100 yeas right up until his death.
Mr. Baughman was preceded in death by his wife, and the mother of his children; his son, Virgil Royce; his sisters Faye Clamp, Mildred Bennett, and Estelle Ellis; and his brother, James Baughman.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Dwight Cathey of Mineola, TX; grandchildren Angela and husband Darrell Henry of Bowie, TX, Clint Baughman of Springerville, AZ, Kristy Bailey and husband Tom of Zavalla, TX; great grandchildren Dani Henry and Morgan Bailey; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; neighbors Jeanene and Raymond Jewel; and all his Golden Corral friends.
