Violeta Valdez Mina's Obituary
Violeta Valdez Mina, 72, died on Wednesday January 2nd, 2019 with her family by her side in Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center Longview Texas. Violeta was born on November 28, 1946 in Villasis, Pangasinan Philippines to Ceferino Valdez Sr. and Lucia Olay Valdez. She graduated from Rosales National High School. Violeta at age 18 performed as a crooner for Swingster Orchestra up to age 22. She managed her business as a fruit and vegetable vendor and was a homemaker. Violeta was married to Samuel Obedoza Mina, and was her partner in life for almost 52 years at the time of her death.
Violeta is survived by her husband Samuel and four children, Sionita Mina Clements, Marsha Mina, Ricvonzar Mina and Shiela Mina Byrd; sons-in-law Robert Clements and Mitch Byrd; daughter-in-law Raquel Rabara Mina; twelve grandchildren, Danielle, John Riley, Jacob, Corel, Blessing, Brieannah, Abigail, Reysiane, Shaniah, Nicolas, Jasmine and Arianna; two great grandkids Tyler and Audrianna; sisters Virginia Sabino and Evelyn Zarate; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, many nephews and nieces.
Violeta was preceded in death by her son Apollo Neil Mina (2013), her parents, brothers Ceferino Jr., Jesus, Eli, Danilo and son-in-law Reynaldo Salazar.
Violeta loved life and believed in God and had accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Throughout her life in the face of struggles, she relied on God’s provision, grace and strength. Violeta had a bright and happy personality, she touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life. She poured out her love and dedication to her family and friends without reservation. She loved to sing (karaoke), dance and cook, she was known for her delicious pansit (rice noodle) and lumpia (egg roll). She will be sorely missed, and may she rest in peace among the angels in God’s heavenly kingdom.
There will be visitation on Sunday, January 6th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, family and friends are also invited to attend a celebration of life gathering on Monday, January 7th at 2:00 PM at Rader’s Funeral Home Chapel located at 1617 Judson Rd. Longview, Texas. Interment will follow to the White Cemetery 400 E. Brentwood St. Longview.
