Violet LaVern Chaplin
Funeral services for Violet LaVern Chaplin, 80, of Longview will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 26, 2016, in the Elmira Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Jimmy Cantey officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Chaplin was born July 17, 1935 in Gilmer, TX and went to be with our Lord on February 21, 2016. She was a lifelong resident of Longview and an active member of Elmira Chapel, where she served many years as church secretary.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Clayton Chaplin; her mom, Estelle Walker; her father, James Mott Walker; sister, Pat Amos; and brother, J.T. and Jimmy Walker.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Vaughna Thomas and husband Joe of Longview, son Wayne Chaplin and wife Barbara of Ft. Worth, and Ken Chaplin and wife Shannon of Houston, TX; two sisters, Margie Fischer of East Mountain, and Marie Brown of Jacksonville; She had 6 grandchildren, Tammy Brownlow and husband Ben of Hallsville, Jason Thomas of Longview, Tyler and Dillon Chaplin of Houston and Keeley Inman and Gary Inman. She had 6 great grandchildren, Landon Herron and wife Brittany, Noah and Rebecca Brownlow, Jalynn, Joshwa and Breanne Thomas; and 1 great grandson, Kyler Herron. The family would like to say a special thank you to the loving and caring staff of Accolade Home Care, Haven Care and Heart to Heart Hospice.
