VERNON KEE PARK
Services for Vernon Kee Park , 79, of Longview will be 10:00 am Wednesday, January 2nd, at the First Lutheran Church, 3901 Bill Owens Pkwy, with Pastor Phil Fenton officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. Vernon died Friday morning, December 28th at a Dallas hospital.
A fifty-year resident of Longview, he was born in Austin on September 27, 1928 to Kee Hong and Mabel Traugott Park. He graduated from Beaumont High School and then attended Louisiana College, Louisiana State University, Tulane University and graduated from the University of Texas with a Master?s Degree in chemistry. Vernon served four years with the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman and proudly wore the uniforms of both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired after forty years from Texas Eastman Company as a research chemist.
Vernon was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved golfing, tennis and travel, but his favorite activity was ballroom dancing with his wife, Jan, and his many friends. An active member of the First Lutheran Church since 1958, he held positions as President of the Church Council and as Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of the Longview Lions Club, an Explorer Scout leader and worked with Meals On Wheels.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Jan of Longview; his sons: Rick of Ft. Worth, Randy and his wife, Shaune of Sarasota, Florida, Steve of Aledo; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Randy Jesberg of Dallas; Grandchildren: Stephanie, Ashley, William, Jillian, Rachel, Taylor, and Aidan Park, Lexy and Jordan Carlson, and Cole and Parker Jesberg. Other relatives include several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., Monday afternoon 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America at 2615 N. Harwood Dallas, Texas 75201 or to The First Lutheran Church 3901 Bill Owens Pkwy. Longview, TX 75605
