Verna Rita Romere Randolph
A Mass of Christian Burial for Verna Rita Romere Randolph, 83, of Longview will be held at Noon Friday, January 5, 2007 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 PM Thursday evening, January 4, 2007 at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited following the visitation.
Mrs. Randolph was born on August 24, 1923 in Beaumont to Elphage and Mariette Romere. She passed away on Wednesday morning, January 3, 2007 at her residence surrounded by her children, listening to her favorite Neal McCoy music, and holding her rosary.
She graduated from South Park High School in 1939 at the age of 15 and then attended Business College. In the ensuing years she worked in numerous positions including in the administration office of Hardin Jefferson I.S.D. and the banking industry. She also did volunteer work at her church. She retired as Secretary to the City Manager of Gladewater. In Beaumont, on October 25, 1946, she married the love of her life, Loyd J. ?Randy? Randolph. They lived in Beaumont until 1953 then moved to Sour Lake. In 1975 they moved to Premont, and then on to White Oak in 1978.
She was preceded in death by her Parents; her oldest child, Cheryl Anne Randolph in 1975; her husband, Randy in 1993; and her sister, Anne Provost.
She is survived by her children, Stan Randolph of Denver, CO., Rita Burke and her husband Matthew of Longview, John Randolph and wife Lauren of Beaumont, Glenn Randolph and wife, Rocky of White Oak, Jacki Taylor and husband Joe Bob of Kilgore; grandchildren, Jamie Ellis Nevill of Longview, Lucas Ellis and wife Aimee of Alvin, Lindsay Randolph of Beaumont, Justin Randolph and wife Beth of Natchitoches, LA., Jordan Randolph of Beaumont, Ashley Randolph of White Oak, Meagan Randolph of White Oak, Jake Taylor of Kilgore, Dusty Taylor of Kilgore; great grandchild, Aiden Ellis of Alvin; sister, Joyce Fertitta and her husband, Johnny of Beaumont, Lindy Romere and his wife, Beulah of Winnie, John Mack Romere of Missouri City; numerous nieces and nephews, and best friends, Bertie Warren Kirby, and Georgia Hearndon.
Verna was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was steadfast in her faith, never wavering in troubled times. Verna never complained, always making the best of any situation, always seeing the positive side. She had an incredible sense of humor ? always ready to make someone laugh.
In addition to being an avid Texas Ranger fan, she loved working as a volunteer with the Good Shepherd Medical Center Auxiliary, where she worked in the Creative Arts Department, and previously served as Chairman of the GSMC Auxiliary Style Show. She also won a statewide scrapbooking award with her GSMC Auxiliary entry. Her hobbies were painting, sewing, crafts, traveling and she took much delight in spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. She also enjoyed photography for which she won many awards.
The Randolph family would like to thank the staff of Colonial Village Retirement Center, where Verna called home since May of 1999. They would also like to thank the care givers of Rehab at Home and Southern Care Hospice, and especially for the prayer support from family and friends.
