Velma Shurrett Tucker
Velma Shurrett Tucker, loving wife, mother, and grandmother went to live with the Lord on Wednesday, January 30, 2002. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, February 2, 2002 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, with Dr. Laney Johnson and Reverend Jay McCasland officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park.
Velma was born on February 27, 1915 in Waco, Texas. She graduated from Forest Avenue High School in Dallas in 1933. She became the bride of Robert Orville Tucker on February 16, 1935. She lived most of her life in Dallas and worked as a floral designer for many years. Velma was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She was an avid fisherman with a love for life and her family. She was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church where she loved the ''Prime Time Bunch'' Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her parents Lee and Rose Marie Shurett, a brother and sister-in-law, James and Edna Erl Shurett, sister, Pauline Green, daughter and son-in-law, Joyce Andrea Armstrong and Omie Armstrong, and son-in-law, Wayne Richardson.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Tucker, two daughters and one son-in-law, Cheryl Richardson of Marshall, Gloria and Weldon Richie of Longview, seven grandchildren and their spouses, seven great grandchildren, niece, Kay Lynn Wilten, and nephew, James Shurett.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM, Friday, evening, February 1, 2002 at the funeral home.
