Vella Corinne Godfrey's Obituary
Funeral services for Vella Corinne Godfrey, 92, of Longview, will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 10, 2007, at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., with Reverend Mark Horner officiating. Mrs. Godfrey passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2007, at her residence.
Interment will follow in Memory Park Cemetery.
She was born January 2, 1915, in Culver, Kansas to Dr. and Mrs. George Shields. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Frank Edwin Godfrey, Jr. on December 25, 1933 and they moved to Longview.
She has been a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, and was a member of CPW and Young at Heart at her church.
Corinne worked for FedWay and later Dillard?s for several years. She enjoyed her hobby
of china painting for many years, being a member of the Century Porcelain Arts Club and East Texas Porcelain Club.
Mrs. Godfrey was also an avid gardener and took great pride in her beautiful flowers and yard.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years and her only son, Jay Frank Godfrey; two brothers and a sister.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Shirley J. Godfrey of Longview; grandsons, Geoffrey
Jay and his wife, Cashion of Dallas, TX and Kevin Ross Godfrey of New York, New York and great grandson, Graham Jay Godfrey of Dallas, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and special care giver of 7 years, Rosibel Stone of Kilgore.
The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home, Friday evening, February 9, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of East Texas or First Cumberland Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
