I recently heard the sad news of the passing of my childhood friend, Van Craddock. We were both Sydney Street neighbors and in those days, “Vandy” was one of my best friends. We played army, whiffle ball and even raced go-karts together. Van was solid, had a quick wit, and taught me to love the history of Texas, particularly the Alamo. But best of all, Van and I “hustled” for free passes at South Green Miniature Golf. He was an original and the most gracious gentleman that I knew. Being a part of his wedding to Bettye warms my memories of two who were truly a couple meant-to-be. My sympathy and prayers to Bettye and family…..Robert Cupp
