Valerie was a freshman in high school the first year that I started substituting. She was always one of my favorites. I think of her and Greg quite often. When I run into one of their classmates, I always ask about her. Nothing ever prepares a parent for the loss of a child, and no words will make it better. I was very sad to hear that Valerie had passed away. I was one of her fifth grade teachers at Weldon. With all of the rememberences of the 10th anniversary of 911 made me think of that day in my classroom. Valerie was one of the students in my room that day and we watched it on TV. Jane, I remember when you found out you were going to have the twins, Valerie and Gregory, and seeing them grow. I remember how you and the others in the EDP now Tyler Tech family helped me cope with the loss of my house to fire and then my son to a careless driver. I know they are there to help you during this time of crisis. But no one can fathom what you're going through. Your loss is so great. There are no words for the pain, the hole in the heart. I remember sitting and visiting with Valerie while my son and her brother practiced baseball. She seemed quiet and shy at times but had a beautiful sweet smile.
