Mr. Utah Parrish's Obituary
Services for Utah Carl Parrish, 76, of Longview, Texas will be held at Woodland Hills Baptist Church, Longview, Texas on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Charles Hunt and Pastor Tim Hanley officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.
He was born January 24, 1940 in Haldeman, Kentucky to Roy and Nora Parrish and passed away Friday, May 6, 2016.
Utah was a 1959 graduate of Sandy Hook High School in Sandy Hook, Kentucky. He married his wife of 54 years, Barbara Fultz, on June 24, 1961. He worked for over 40 years as a carpenter, stonemason and construction supervisor on projects across 21 states. He moved to Texas in 1982, eventually retiring from J T Thorpe Company in 1999 and settling near family in Longview, Texas.
His most important decision in life was made in December 1988 when he trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior after many years of prayers from his mother. On November 2, 1997, Utah, Barbara and Connie were all baptized and became members of Lamplighter Baptist Church in Port Arthur, Texas. After moving to Longview, he became a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church.
Some of his favorite activities were fishing, trap shooting, golfing, gardening, woodworking, reading, and listening to gospel music. Utah was a story teller and especially enjoyed visiting with people and getting to know them. He also enjoyed competition of any kind.
Utah was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Nora.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Connie Parrish; daughter, Pam and husband, Kyle Keith; grandson Kade Keith; sister, Ola Gay Mabry; sister-in-law Debbie Ginter; and several special nieces and nephews.
