Ulysses Jack Arbter's Obituary
Services for Ulysses "Jack" Arbter of Longview, 10:00 am on Friday, December 12 at Rader Funeral Home with Fr. Bruce Lincoln officiating. Internment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Arbter, known to friends as Lefty, passed away on Monday Dec. 8 in Longview.
Lefty was born on November 11, 1928 in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin to John and Viola Arbter.He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and served the U. S. Army as a research chemist during the Korean War. He worked as a metallurgist engineer at A.O. Smith, Morton Thikol, and retired from Lone Star Steel. He was active as a Cub Scout leader and little league coach in the Spring Hill commmunity. He was an avid painter and has several of his paintings on display at the Brksdale Air Force Base. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Longview,
Texas.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Joyce Arbter, daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Jerry Baker of Longview, Texas; son, Capt. John Arbter, U. S. Navy
and son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Rondi Arbter of Longview, Texas; granddaughters, Katie and Lizzie Baker of Austin, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and Jim Fink of Wickliffe, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law, Charlene and Mike Durvoka of Pueblo, Colorado; and brother-in-law, Kent Martin of West Allis, Wisconsin. Mr. Arbter was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Grace Martin.
There will be a rosary on Thursday December 11, at 6:00 pm at Rader Funeral Home and visitation will follow from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank the wonderful health providers at Good Shepherd Home Care and all of the doctors and nurses who cared for him during the last three years.
