Funeral services for Ulysses Grant Whatley, 67, of Longview, will be held at 4 PM Friday, July 19, 2002 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Pastor Richard Jones and Pastor Bill Ashburn officiating. Entombment will be in Rosewood Park Mausoleum. He died Wednesday, July 17, in a Longview hospital. Visitation will be Thursday, July 18 from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Whatley was born April 11, 1935 in London, Texas to Ulysses Paschal and Bertil Parker Whatley. He was an environmentalist for Longview Regional Hospital and served the city of Longview Police Department for 15 years. Mr. Whatley was a Pine Tree School Band and athletic supporter, a member of the Longview United Fund, the Longview Baseball Association, the East Texas Hospital Association, and an Stephen F. Austin Alumni. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Hertha Ann Whatley of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Terry Grant and Lisa Whatley of Garland; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon Whatley and Cliff Powers of Garland; grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Whatley and Chelsea and Grant Powers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frederick and Mary Stahl of Longview, Charles and Janice Stahl of Hurst, Ken and Patsy McGinnis of Longview and Tommy and Jeanette Kirkindoll of Longview. Memorials may be made to the Stephen F.
