Truman James "Jim" Honeycutt, Jr.'s Obituary
Truman James “Jim” Honeycutt, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Martin, his father, Truman James Honeycutt, Sr., and his sister and brother-in-law, Monette and Jerry Hood.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Peggy Honeycutt; his three children and their respective spouses, Todd Honeycutt and Mary Jane Carlin (High Bridge, NJ), Laura and Rickey Cox (Tatum, TX), and Wendy and Allen Reed (Longview, TX); seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and his sister, Debbie Greer.
Jim was born in Jacksonville, Texas on August 19, 1947. He was an electrician by trade and a scholar at heart. He returned to school in mid-life to complete his associate’s degree in history. He loved gardening and farming and his mower. On his farm, and with the help of Peggy, he raised chickens, sheep, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, and donkeys, and he planted a wide assortment of fruits and vegetables throughout the year. An ideal ending to each day for Jim was sitting on the back porch with his wife, looking down on the pond, dogs at his feet, a bourbon and Coke in his hand, and ZZ Top on the radio. His family will miss him dearly.
A visitation for Truman will be held Monday, May 13 between 5 and 7 P.M. at Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jim’s name to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
