Troy E. Forbis
Memorial services for Troy E. Forbis, 86, of Longview will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, July 22, 2003 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. William S. Couvillion officiating. Private graveside committal will be held at Memory Park Cemetery prior to the memorial service.
Mr. Forbis passed away Sunday, July 20, 2003 at his home after a long battle with emphysema.
Troy was born in Center, Texas, January 12, 1917 to Eddie Forbis and Pearl Jetton Forbis. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, William T. Forbis.
Moving from Bossier City, Louisiana in 1974, he retired from Southwestern Electric Power in 1983 after 40 years of service.
Troy served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II. He married Elizabeth Dennis in Shreveport, Louisiana on his 35th birthday, January 12, 1952.
Troy is survived by Liz, his wife of 51 years; brother, Eric Forbis of Center; 2 nephews, Bill Forbis of Chatham, LA., and Guy Forbis of Whitehouse; 2 nieces, Myra Brown of Lake Palestine and Nelda Spears of Plano.
Troy was a member of Summerfield United Methodist Church, Sharon Shrine, Shreveport Scottish Rite Mason, Pine Tree Masonic Lodge, Sharon Shrine Fire Brigade, Longview Lions Club, Past Commander of American Legion Post 140, and Voiture 1123 Fourty and Eight.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Monday, July 21, the funeral home.
