Funeral services for Travis C. Puckett, 89, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Monday, December 29, 2008 at Mobberly Baptist Church with the Reverend Billy Foote officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the funeral home. Mr. Puckett was born on August 7, 1919 in Gilmer. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 25, 2008 in a Longview nursing facility. He was a former Lieutenant with the Longview Police Department for over 26 years of service, 3 years as patrolman and 23 years as criminal investigator. He most recently served as head of security for the Palisades Homeowners Association. He was a longtime member of Mobberly Baptist Church where he served more than 40 years as a deacon. On Jan. 22, 1939 he married his college sweetheart, Geraldine Davis. They spent 64 wonderful years together. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Puckett was preceded in death by his parents, and wife and one daughter, Judy Carolyn Davenport. He is survived by his granddaughters, Kyla Boyd and her husband, Jeff of Plano and Karen Davenport of Longview; his great grandchildren, Garrison Luke and Emma Caroline Boyd; sisters, Alice Muriel Raiford of Phoenix, AZ, and Iris Cole of Hallsville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
