Tracy Lynn Prater's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tracy Prater, 51, on January 4th, 2025, in Longview, Tx. Tracy was born on January 25th, 1973, in Bangkok, Thailand, and later made a life defined by hard work, dedication, and love.
Tracy worked in oil and gas, a career that reflected his tireless work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. Above all, he was known for his infectious sense of humor and unwavering dedication to bringing joy to those around him. Making others laugh and smile was his greatest gift.
Tracy was a man of deep faith who loved Jesus and worked hard to instill strong values and morals in his children. He was a devoted father who did whatever it took to care for his family, serving as both a protector and provider.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wanda Joyce Prater and Wesley Prater. He is survived by his children, Claudia Vargas, Jade Prater, and Matthew Prater; his beloved dog and best friend, Zeke Prater; his grandchildren, Rory Azul Vargas, Atlas Cash Knight, and Rosellen Joyce Prater; and Amie Prater, his former wife and lifelong friend, whose enduring love and deep bond provided comfort and connection during their more than 20 years of marriage and continued to sustain them through his final days.
A Family Directed Memorial Service to celebrate Tracy’s life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Renewed Life Church in Gladewater, Texas. The service will be officiated by Teddy Sorrells.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Rader Funeral Home.
Tracy’s legacy of love, faith, and laughter lives on in the hearts of his family and friends.
