Tommy Rae's Obituary
Memorial services for Thomas Alexander ?T.A.? Rae, Jr., 78, of Longview, are scheduled at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Longview on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 2pm. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. With his family by his side, Mr. Rae went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 28, 2011, in Longview.
He was born July 11, 1932, in Temple, TX, to Thomas and Bessie Rae. He attended Longview ISD and played football for Kilgore College. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Tommy retired after 38 years from Eastman Kodak Company where he worked as surveyor.
Tommy was an avid golfer, and excelled at the game. He loved all sports, and was a Texas Rangers and Texas Longhorns fan through thick and thin. He had a razor sharp wit, and was famous for his hilarious colloquialisms and nick names for his friends and co-workers. He loved spending time with family, visiting with friends, and making people laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Max Rae; and his son-in-law, James Jason Lade.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Charlotte Rae; one daughter, Kelsey Heichelheim and husband Daniel of Longview; three sons, Eric Scott Rae, of Longview, Texas, Russell Rae and wife Marcia, of Paducah, Kentucky, and Jeff McKinney and wife Carole of Silverdale, Washington; one brother, Jack Rae and wife Ginny, of Hallsville, Texas, and two sisters, Juanita Patrick of Temple, Texas, and Francis LaGrone and husband Sonny, of Temple, Texas; as well as nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Care Team Hospice for the wonderful care and support they provided to both Tommy and the family.
