Tommy Pool's Obituary
Tommy Cal Pool of Hallsville, Texas passed away peacefully at home and went to be with the Lord on Oct 12, 2024, at 66 years old.
Tommy was born on February 3, 1958, in Longview, Texas to Elgen and Virgie Pool. He graduated from Hallsville High School in 1976 and later married his wife of 43 years, LouAnn, who remained by his side as his best friend until his passing.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, LouAnn Pool, his children, Tori and husband Nathan Rouse, Taylor and husband Josh Miller; grandchildren, Hailey Rouse, Gannon Rouse, and Colston Miller; aunt, Mildred Blalock, sister-in-law, Kathy Albright, brother-in-law, Tommy Shirley and wife Michelle, and sister-in-law, Deborah Shirley. He also leaves behind numerous other family members and friends which he cherished.
Tommy loved serving the community of Hallsville in many ways. He owned and operated the family business, Pool’s Chevron Station, which served Hallsville for over 64 years. He also owned and operated Pool’s Wrecker Service. Tommy’s servant heart was evident in many ways such as volunteering on the Hallsville Fire Department board, Hallsville Zoning committee, The “H” Association, the Hallsville Chamber of Commerce, as well as other projects. Tommy’s love of music led to the creation of the Hallsville amphitheater lovingly named “Tommy Pool Odeum.” Tommy was honored with the Hallsville Chamber Lifetime Achievement Award, Hallsville Distinguished Alumni, and the Hallsville amphitheater plaque.
Tommy Pool was a pillar in Hallsville. Everyone will miss his honorable work ethic, playful jokes, trustworthy business-sense, and loyalty to those he loved. Tommy was a creative and active man who enjoyed woodworking, landscaping, water-skiing, and running. One of his favorite pastimes was to host gatherings in his beloved shop with cooking and music. He also loved watching sports of all kinds and recapping the game with his friends at the station.
A celebration of life honoring Tommy will be held on Wednesday, Oct 16, 2024, beginning with a visitation from 11:00 to 1:00 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. A graveside service will follow at Hallsville Cemetery at 2:00.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice in memory of Tommy Pool or to the Hallsville “H” Association at 507 N. Central St, Hallsville, TX 75650.
