Tommy Fulton's Obituary
Tommy was born February 23, 1937 in Hugo, OK, the last child of Robert Fulton and Olive Marie Rankin, and passed October 12, 2023 at the age of 86. His father Robert Fulton served and was wounded in WWI and later served as a guard in the San Francisco Harbor during WWII. His brother Robert Jr paid the ultimate sacrifice during WWII. In the 1950's, Tommy and his brother, Jack also served in the Army.
Dad was a Warrior! Many times he told of growing up in Hugo, learning to box under Principal and Coach Simon Parker. Dad also attended Chilocco Indian School where he cherished his good education and the many lifelong friends he made. In the military, Dad was most proud of being an Army Paratrooper and being on the baseball and boxing teams, where as such he got to cut the line in the cafeterias during Army meals.
After his service, Dad moved to Dallas and met the love of his life, Bonnie Sue Satterwhite. They married and had two sons, Thomas Jr and Daniel Lynn. They moved to Longview and remained married 60 years until Bonnie's death. Dad retired from Trinity Industries in 2004. During Mom's last months with Alzheimer's, Dad would struggle to walk using his father's cane but always made sure to attend lunch and dinner daily to help her eat. Dad taughthis sons to be honest, hardworking, be on time, to always honor your word and don't mess up your credit! Dad was always proud of his Choctaw heritage. Evidently Robert Fulton Sr taught his sons to love our country and the great opportunities our nation offered people.
Dad lived a good long life, enjoyed and loved his 6 grandchildren and was able to see his 6 great grandchildren.
Tommy was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie, and son, Danny. He is survived by his son Tommy Lee Fulton (Jan), grandchildren; Tom Fulton III (Tawny and great grandchildren, Karly, Alaina, Hannah, Caleb and Emma), Jenna Smith (Travis and great grandson, Stetson) Zach Fulton, Dana Fulton, Seth Fulton and Justus Fulton.
The family would like to thank the staff of Havencare Nursing and Rehab for the care he received.
A graveside service for Tommy will be held on Friday, October 20 at 10am at County Line Cemetery in Harleton. A visitation will be held the night before between 6 and 8pm at Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
