Tom W. Fox, Sr's Obituary
Funeral services for Tom W. Fox, Sr., 76, of Gladewater, will be 2 PM Monday at the First Baptist Church of Longview, with Reverend Dewayne Beaty, Bishop Bob Johnston, and Ron Prince officiating. Interment will be in Enoch Cemetery near Gilmer, Texas. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 PM at Rader Funeral Home, Longview.
A native of Como, Texas, he was born June 6, 1928 to C.A. and Janie Fox. Tom graduated from Kilgore High School, Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree and from East Texas State University with a Master of Education. He worked for Amoco Pipe Line for 10 years prior to entering the teaching profession in 1961 at Spring Hill Schools where he was a teacher, elementary/Jr. High principal, assist superintendent and superintendent of Spring Hill Schools. He retired in 1985 and worked part time for the school district. Toms accomplishments include Past President Gregg County Unit of Texas State Teachers Association, Past President District VII and District VIII Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association, Life Member Texas Parent Teachers? Association Past President Spring Hill Lions Club, Member Texas Association Pupil Transportation Directors and was first vicepresident of Association. Tom planned, designed and initiated many programs and facilities during his tenure at Spring Hill Schools.
Toms hobbies were working, with his wife, on his farm with his animals and spoiling his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Patsy Fox Justice and a brother: Bobby Joe Fox.
He is survived by his loving wife Joan; son: Dr. Tom W. Fox, Jr. and wife Linda of Mexia; Daughters: Mary Fox Quosig and husband David of Houston, Charlotte Fox Wilks and huband Bryan of Gladewater, and Lisa Fox Shepperd and husband Brandon of Longview; Grandchildren: Justin Fox, Tracy Quosig, Chris Wilks, Andrea Fox, Matt Wilks and Luke Shepperd; Step Grandchild: Brandon Caraway; Step Great Grandchild:Sydney Lynn Caraway; Brother: Ralph Fox and wife Laura of Palm Desert, CA; Sisters: Nelda Fox Foster of Kilgore and Dorothy Fox Goetzman of Aiken, SC and a Sister in law: Marguerite Fox of Green Valley, AZ and a number of nieces and nephews.
