Tom Lowder's Obituary
Memorial Services for Tom Lowder, 87 of Longview, Texas, are scheduled for 12 Noon on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Rosewood Park Mausoleum. He passed away on July 9, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife Ila "Tiny" Lowder of Longview, Texas, three children, Tom Lowder Jr. and wife, Jane, of McKinney, Texas, Patricia Fishback and husband, Jim, of Carmi, Illinois, and Louise Combest and husband, Jerry, of Longview, Texas, two step-daughters, Shirley Heath of Bedford, Texas, and Connie Cranford of Burleson, Texas, ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie Bell and William Arthur Lowder, his first wife, Dorothy Evelyn Lowder, three of his children, Shirley, Bill and Ben, and six siblings.
He was born on August 14, 1923 in Lake West, Oklahoma. During the course of his life, he lived in Illinois, Mississippi, and Texas. Tom served in the United States Army during World War II and was a combat veteran of the European/African/Middle Eastern Theater and was awarded three bronze battle stars. He worked for SOHIO Standard Oil of Ohio for 43 years, retiring in 1985 as Regional Superintendent. He had a love of music, yard work, and spending time with his family, who believe him to be the best fisherman that ever lived.
