I remember once when he was chasing me across the backyard of a place we were living in Monahans, Tx and I kept looking back, kinda taunting him and the last time I looked back, it was just in time to see him sliding on his chest and chin, then I saw his toes come up from behind him and touch the top of his head. I had never seen anyone do a scorpion in real life. I laughed so hard, my legs gave out and I was on the ground next to him, laughing harder than I had maybe ever. He was the kind of guy who could laugh at himself. We laid right there in the West Texas goat head stickers and laughed together. I miss that man every day. I still can’t bring myself to wash his dirty clothes. I had to put them in an airtight container bcuz they’re pretty rough, but I know that after I wash them, that’s it. That’s the last of him in life that I have to hold on to. Rest in peace, my love. Save me a spot.
