Timothy R. Coats' Obituary
Timothy R. Coats, 75, of Longview passed away at his home on September 18, 2016 after a long battle with dementia. He was born October 14, 1940 in Jacksonville, Texas to Lloyd Coats and Clatie Hill Coats. He graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1959. He then joined the Texas National Guard and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis. In 1965 he married Carolyn Jones and they moved to Longview, where he worked as a machinist for R. G. LeTourneau, Inc until he retired in 2005.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, a sister-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Carolyn, a daughter, Heather Coats, and a son, Eric Coats both of Longview; sisters Nada Coats of Jacksonville and Mary Daugherty of Tyler; brothers Lannie Coats and wife of Concord, and Billy Coats and wife of New Braunfels; Also a sister-in-law Joyce Roebuck of Jacksonville. He is also survived by a large number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm 9/20/2016 at Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family at this time. Funeral services are scheduled for 9/21/2016 at 12pm at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, with Dale Hendricks officiating. Mr. Coats was a member of the Church of Christ. Interment will be in Elderville Cemetery.
