Timothy Arnold Brown's Obituary
Tim was born on May 21, 1940, in Buffalo, NY and passed away on December 25, 2024, in Longview, Texas. He was the middle son of Arnold and Hazel Brown (Nee’ Fox) of Buffalo, NY.
Tim never met a stranger, was quick to offer a helping hand, was happy to regale you with wonderful stories, and ALWAYS found the positive in any situation. The most important part of his life was his relationship with Jesus Christ and he hoped the same for you.
To Tim life was an adventure which quickly began after he graduated from Bishop Fallon High School in 1958 and he joined the US Navy. He found his time in the service to be a gift. Even though he was in the Navy he was never aboard a ship. He was a member of Air Transport Squadron 22 and was a service technician on C118 military air transport planes which were used in collaboration with the Air Force. As a result he flew all over the world which had previously seemed only to be an unattainable dream.
Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy Tim embarked on his 40+ year career with Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation. In doing so he followed in both his father and grandfather’s footsteps as a 3rd generation lineman. He was always happy to see the now historic Electric Building in downtown Buffalo as his Grandfather John Brown was one of the men who “turned the lights on” in the building during the early 1900’s. Working at NiMo was a true calling to Tim and he often said “if you love what you do you will never work a day in your life.” He did so happily no matter the cold, snow and middle of the night trouble calls. He was glad to restore power to families all over WNY. After finally hanging up his pole climbing hooks he tried to retire but to no avail; he quickly found a new line of work in various paint departments at local hardware stores. Ed Young’s True Value would be his last paid employment at 80 years of age.
Tim then began his most cherished career as full time caretaker of his beloved Carole. He always said it was an honor to be given the privilege of caring for the love of his life. Their’s was a true Hallmark love story. Knowing each other as kids from the neighborhood at the skating rink; Carole always declining Tim’s requests to skate together. To dating in High School, then life getting in the way when Tim enlisted in the service. So many years and lives later Tim once again sought Carole out never having forgotten that cute girl at the rink and Carole was glad he did. They married and spent 15 wonderful years together until Carole went home to be with the Lord. The sweetest ending to this storied relationship was Tim passing away on Christmas morning as Dec. 25th was Carole’s birthday. They are together again on a very special day.
After Carole passed away Tim moved to Texas to be with his daughter and family. While hard to leave his home of over 82 years he was thrilled to not have seen a snowflake since the Blizzard which occurred during the week of his move.
Tim was preceded in death by his beloved Carole, his parents Arnold and Hazel, brothers Michael and Terry and newborn sister Jane Brown. Left to carry on Tim’s positive attitude, tenacity and service to others are his daughter and son in law Kelly and Kevin Buchanek, grandson Caleb Buchanek, stepdaughter Laurie Slawson (Tony) and Jimmy, son Tim Brown and countless extended family and friends.
