Thomas W. Phillips, Jr.'s Obituary
Services for Thomas W. Phillips, Jr. , 85, of Houston will be 10 AM Saturday, July 10th at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend W.A. ?Bud? Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Summerfield Cemetery. A former resident of Longview and Kilgore, Mr. Phillips died Saturday, July 3rd at a Houston health care center.
He was born Sept. 19, 1918 at Smithland, Texas to Thomas W. Phillips, Sr, and Annie Mae Fitzgerald. In 1933, the family moved to Kilgore . Mr. Phillips attended and graduated from Sabine High School where he was very active in sports. He later joined and served in the United States Air Force.
He married Odel Baker on Nov. 9, 1940 and was preceded in death by her in 2002. Mr. Phillips was a plant foreman for the Gulf Oil Co. from which he retired in Richmond, Texas. His hobbies were collecting and repairing antique clocks. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a son, Thomas W. Phillips and wife Caree of Houston and grandson Jeffrey.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Friday evening 6 to 8 PM.
