Thomas M. Phillips' Obituary
Memorial services for Thomas M. Phillips will be held in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home on Monday, April 17, 2017 at noon. The family will receive friends from 11 to 12 pm prior to the service. Thomas died Friday, April 14, 2017 in Longview, Texas after a brief, valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home.
A private family graveside service will be held in Avinger Cemetary at a later date.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold E. Phillips and Norma J. Phillips.
To honor Tommy’s memory are his loving wife and best friend, Kirsten, his daughter Lee Ann Higginbottom and husband Mike of Houston, his son Thomas Mark Phillips, Jr. and wife Skye of Ardmore, Oklahoma, two bonus sons, Marshall L. Felker III (Bud) of Trophy Club, Michael S. Felker (Mike) and wife Courtni of N. Richland Hills. A large nest filled with beautiful grandchildren: Preston, Trevor, Lauren, Hunter, Morgan, Timberly, Braven, Dylan, Austin, Paiton, Landri, and Grayson. Paw Paw Phillips loved them all and being Paw Paw Phillips. Tommy is survived by two brothers: Norman E. Phillips and wife Jamie of Austin, Robert L. (Bobby) Phillips and wife Linda of Conroe and sister Julie D. Bass and husband Bob of Humble. A host of nieces and nephews and his favorite niece, De De Sanders of Houston.
Tommy moved to Houston with his family at an early age. Born in Fullerton, Orange County, California April 20, 1948. Tommy graduated from Memorial High School and Kilgore College. His education continued all his life through numerous seminars, conferences, etc. His chosen path and absolute passion was the oil/gas business. His career was long and colorful. Tommy worked for large corporations, small ones, and for himself. His endeavor took him all over the southern part of the U.S. as well as Angola and Africa. Besides working in Africa, he enjoyed high teas with his British friends/colleagues and even played golf where the monkeys were his biggest obstacle. Finally, Tommy worked with Dan Blocker Consultants and Jack Cardaro of Verado Energy on numerous projects. Tommy believed in God, Family, Country, and the best in mankind.
