Thomas J. Long (T.J.)'s Obituary
Graveside services for family and friends of Thomas J. Long, 93, will be Friday, September 27th at 10:00 am at Memorial Park Cemetery in Longview, with Lee Rottman officiating. T.J. (Tom) Long passed away Tuesday, September 24th. Visitation will be Thursday night from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernita and a brother, Richard Long. T.J. served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force during World War II including numerous missions over "The Hump" and serving in the Korean War. He worked for many years as a pilot for E.C. Johnston Oil Company as well as being a successful businessman. He was also a member of the Pine Tree Church of Christ.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Scott & Lisa Long of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry & Tina Long of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, Lori & Neal Venable; daughter Carolyn Bostic of Tyler; daughter Rosilee Nicholson of New Braunfels; and daughter Stephanie Green of Killeen; 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandson Sawyer and 2 great granddaughters Hannah & Hailey who were very special to him.
The family would like to thank the Doctors, ICU staff, and 2nd floor nurses of Longview Regional Hospital for the care he received during his last hospital stay. A very special thank you to Miz T for her constant care, extreme patience, love and devotion for T.J.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Pine Tree Church of Christ Mission Fund.
