I served under the “Eng’s” leadership during his Flasher (SSN 613) tour including a challenging, extended overhaul at Mare Island and returning to a fully operational status. He set the example for persistence and a positive attitude; exhibiting the “594 tough” spirit. He wasn’t too happy when the Navy made him shave his beard, but didn’t complain. A positive influence in the lives of many young men. His attitude and accomplishments continue across the nation.
