Therese has been Kevin's loving wife for 23 years. They shared a beautiful life and many great adventures together, always encouraging each other in the pursuit of their dreams. As an Agronomist, she loved working the earth by growing various plants and flowers. Therese was also a counselor to any who looked to her for her deep Spirit – led wisdom. She was
a quietly, lovingly caring, and understanding shoulder to all of us traveling on this journey together.
She took in strays, and the lost and wounded, both four-legged and two, and nurtured them to new life.
She was very creative, and beauty flowered around her, as she spread beauty everywhere she went. She loved to skip, and dance, and sing – even when the music was only in her heart.
As a little girl, one of her favorite books was about St. Teresa. St. Teresa was a woman who gave her heart, soul, life, and the work of her hands, to the Lord. Therese always tried to be like her. Therese was a caregiver to many of her friends and family, as well as many, many animals. She was actually often referred to as “St. Therese “by many she had touched. This made her “little heart go pitter-patter” and brought a smile to her, like she had to so many others.
Therese was a survivor of breast cancer. During which, she continuously praised God and always had faith that it was “Illness to the Glory of God.” As He walked her through the medical field, she encouraged others who were also battling illnesses.
This second bout with cancer was also to the Glory of God. He healed her of this by bringing her Home. We thank God, and are happy for her to be in His presence in Heaven. Therese has always been
a major part of our lives, sharing the goodness of Spirit filled love with the earth, the animals, and anyone in need. This world is a better place for having had her in it.
Therese was the daughter of Al and the late Rita Burke of Longview, TX. She is cherished also by
her husband / partner Kev. N. Graves of Kilgore, Tx., and five sisters: Maureen Wilson of Longview, Tx., Maggie O'Malley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jeanne and her husband Frank French of Woodstock, Ga., Patty Burke and her fiancée John Mavis of the Florida Keys, and Katie and her husband Jim Spellman of Hallsville, Tx. along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins across the country.
A Celebration of Her Life Service will be 3pm today, Saturday, June 20, 2015 at First Baptist Church Liberty City. We love her, and miss her, and thank the Lord for her! Chenae!
We paraphrase Proverbs 31:29 and say Therese, “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”
