THELMA DOROTHY KITCHENS MILLER
1916-2011
Dorothy Miller passed away September 26, 2011. She was born December 11, 1916 in Waldo, Arkansas to George Thomas Kitchens and Mary Helen Askew Kitchens. She attended Waldo schools and Southern State College in Magnolia, Arkansas. In 1934 she married Frank Earle Miller, Jr. and moved to Texarkana, Texas. In 1957 they relocated to Henderson where Earle operated Earles 7-11 Superette. Dorothy was very involved in the activities of First United Methodist Church as a Sunday school teacher and as a member and officer of the Methodist Women for many years. She volunteered at the Henderson Hospital where she was a Gray Lady. She worked for the Henderson ISD for more than twenty years specializing in child motor development during which time she wrote a manual on the subject, which was used in the school system. She later worked as a school secretary. One of her passions was playing bridge, which she did regularly. She is predeceased by her husband, Frank Earle Miller, Jr.,; sister, Margarette Yeargin; brother, George Thomas Kitchens, II; sister, Martha Jane Kitchens Morgan. She is survived by son, Earle Thomas Miller and his wife Elsie Kay of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas, granddaughter, Linda Kay Miller Wallace; grandson, Mark Thomas Miller and wife Charlene; great granddaughter, Meredith Kay Wallace; great grandson, Mason Taylor Wallace; great granddaughter, Elizabeth Diane Miller, all of the Dallas area, and by brother, James Kitchens of Colorado and sister, Mary Askew Lewis of Florida. A special thanks to the staff at Emeritus, Henderson and Odessey Hospice for their compassionate care.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, October 1, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, Henderson.
