Terre Richardson's Obituary
Terre Richardson affectionately known as “Big Dog” sadly passed at the age of 79 on September 21, 2024. He was married to Diane Richardson, and they shared 56 years of life together. Born in Hagerstown, Maryland to parents Cloyd Elmer & Elizabeth Bates Richardson, he grew up in Lake City, Minnesota. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1962 and attended the University of Minnesota until 1964 when he joined the U.S. Air Force. He served in Glasgow, Montana, and Lakenheath in England where he met his future wife Diane, marrying her in the spring of 1968. The couple moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota in November 1968 after discharge from the Air Force. In 1972, the couple moved to Longview, Texas, with their 6-week-old son Michael: where Terre and his Dad opened Rich’s Machinery. The business was successful and when his Dad passed in 1982, Terre took over the business and ran it successfully until his retirement in 2012 when his son’s Seane and Steven took over the business.
Terre was preceded in death by his eldest son Michael Deane Richardson, his parents Cloyd and Elizabeth, his younger brother James Richardson, cousin Mark Richardson and his Grandmother Annie Bates.
He is survived by his loving and supportive wife Diane, and his son Seane, wife Ginger and their two children Reese and Kate, son Steven, wife Amber and their four children Braddock, Adelynn, Patton and Landry, Sister Tedde Lunstedt and cousins Paula and Jacob Richardson and many nephews and nieces.
Terre loved spending time with his six grandchildren, all of whom he loved and treasured deeply. He enjoyed playing golf, especially with his son Seane, and many golf trips with his friends. He loved boating, shooting, hunting and off roading at Barnwell Mountain, playing cards and traveling to many countries around the world. He was thrilled to have visited Alaska, Canada, Hawaii and road trips around the USA. He loved river cruises in Europe and cruising the Mediterranean and Caribbean.
Following Terre’s wishes he will be cremated, and his ashes scattered at a later date. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, September 25th from 6-8PM at Rader Funeral Home, Longview, Texas.
Terre, “Big Dog”, was loved by so many and will be forever remembered in our hearts. He will be sorely missed by family and friends.
