Ted Ray Carroll's Obituary
Ted Ray Carroll, 72 of Longview won his ten year battle with cancer on June 5th, 2015 Services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9 at Radar Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be prior to the service starting at 12:30 p.m. The service will be officiated by Dr. Steve Gibbs. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery.
Ted was born on Mother's Day, May 9, 1943 in Matador, TX, to Dr. M. B. Carroll and Josephine Ray Carroll. The family moved to Henderson, TX when he was six and Ted formed life long friendships with the class of 1961. In 1958 the family moved to Dallas, TX, where Ted graduated from Bryan Adams High School, and Baylor University, and has continued to follow the Baylor Bears.
Ted started his business career in sales, with Henderson Clay Products in the Dallas
office and then transferred to the Henderson office. Later he was in sales with Swirl-Way in Henderson until 1998, after that he was self employed for seventeen years.
Ted was an active long time member of First Baptist Church in Henderson, and more recently a member of Mobberly Baptist Church.
Whlle living at Lake Cherokee, Ted was a member of the Cherokee Fishing Club, and those who knew him knew his passion for bass fishlng. He fished many enjoyable years with his best fishing partner, his wife Reba. The family would like to thank all of his friends that saw to it that he was able to continue to fish after he was told not to fish alone because of hls illness.
Special thanks to life long friend Gary Anderson and wife Harriet for the many trips from Mississippi, going way beyond normal :friendships, by just "being there".
Ted was a man who loved his family and friends and lived life to its fullest. He was a constant source of kindness and good humor to his family and friends. He truly enjoyed family gatherings, continuing the Family Christmas' that his Mother had started years before. He always enjoyed seeing his siblings' families as they grew with children, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren.
Ted was preceeded in death by his parents, sister, Elizabeth Ann Carroll Dorough, and niece Amy Mayton.
Ted is survived by his loving wife, Reba of 30 years. His daughters and husbands; Gay Bailey and husband Bruce of Henderson, TX; Kerry Adkins and husband Todd, of McKinney, TX. Shelli Burd and husband Bill, of Longview, TX. Grandchildren: Brock Vinson of Nacogdoches, TX, Brooke York of Henderson, TX, Landry, Olivia, and Luke Adkins of Mckinney, TX; Brendon Burd, Longview, TX. Great Grandchildren Briley, Brynlie and Brayden York of Henderson. Step Children; Jeff and Saprina Anderson of Longview, TX, Jennifer and Dane Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK; Step Grandchildren: Brittany and Danielle Anderson, Longview, TX; Haley and Troy Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK. Three sisters; Kay and husband Basil Clark of Wylie, TX, Sue and Husband Steve Gibbs of Texarkana, TX; Joy Johnston of Farmersville, TX; Brother, Sid Carroll of Kilgore, TX and many nieces and nephews.
The Family would like to thank Dr. Larry Frase and staff of the Longview Cancer Center for the care they provided, and Heart’s Way Hospice for their care during these last days.
